The Best Gift Ever

We’ve been really fortunate to have had such an amazing year. With new retail partners, new online availability, and rave reviews from SAG users, we’ve kind of felt like every day has been Christmas.

But, just in time for the actual holiday, we’ve received another amazing gift. Sticky Ass Glue has been appearing on The DIY Channel’s show “Cool Tools.” The episode, which highlighted some of the coolest products at the 2009 National Hardware Show, which aired throughout November, is now available online!

Needless to say, for a small, newer company like SAG; exposure such as this has truly been such a gift! We’d love for you to take a look. The entire segment can be seen here, though SAG doesn’t appear until about the 15 minute mark. http://www.diynetwork.com/videos/cool-tools-hardware-show-2009/46464.html

So check it out when you have a chance, and let us know what you think.
With Warm Holiday Wishes,

Fall Fashion Made Fixable With SAG

Ok, so we may not be fashionistas, but we’re sure married to some. Thanks to our wives we know that leather is must-have for fall. Boots, bags, and jackets adorned with studs, buttons, buckles and straps are apparently all the rage. But what to do when those studs come loose or straps rip off boots?

Well, even though we’re not exactly “fashion forward”, we do know that Sticky Ass Glue will fix leather fashion foibles in a snap. Moreover, because leather is a porous substance, you don’t need to use any water with our glue in order to repair a missing button or buckle. Simply apply a little dab of Sticky Ass Glue or Sticky Jack Glue, and your items will be good as new, without any water damage.

Any questions on using SAG or SJG to repair leather items, please feel free to contact us at glue@stickyassglue.com. For more regular updates follow us on Twitter @gluecrew.

Clogged Cap? Here’s How To Clean It!

With polyurethane glues like Sticky Ass Glue and Sticky Jack Glue, unfortunately if the bottles aren’t closed tightly (read: all air removed) after use, the applicator/ or nozzle can become jammed as residual glue cures inside. But that’s no reason to throw out the glue. The remaining glue is perfectly fine to use. But, you will need to clean the cap. Luckily it’s easy as 1-2-3. Here’s how:

1. Twist open the nozzle/applicator. Then pop off the applicator by pulling it from the cap. Use a toothpick, paperclip or tiny nail to pop the hardened glue right out.

2. Unscrew the big cap. (In some instances you may need pliers, if the cap is on really tight). Check the top layer of the glue in the bottle. If it has hardened simply use a screwdriver to pull out the top layer of cured glue. You’ll find the remaining glue is just fine!

3. Get back to work, gluing away!

If you have any difficulties in cleaning the nozzle or underneath the cap, please don’t hesitate to shoot us an email at glue@stickyassglue.com and we’ll get right back to you!

A is For Amazing…and Amazon

Amazing. That’s how we like to describe our glue. SAG is really an amazing product. Of course you know by now that it’s 100% waterproof, and made right here in the USA. It also foams less than other polyurethanes, and can bond everything from ceramic to brick. That’s pretty amazing. Similarly, Sticky Jack Super Glue is amazing in its own right. Since we triple distilled it, SJSG produces a cleaner, more consistent bond every time you use it.

But you know what’s also amazing? The awesomely amazing Amazon.com has decided to carry our products! Yep, Amazon is now carrying our 4 oz, 8 oz, and 16 oz bottles of SAG and our 10 gram tubes of Sticky Jack Super Glue.

So, when you need amazing results from your glue, remember that you can now find us online at Amazon.com

Kayaks, Canoes and Dinghies, Oh My!

Wanna know something cool? Well, of course you do, or else you wouldn’t be here on the Glue Chronicles! So here goes nothing:

Did you know that if your boat, whether plastic, metal or fiberglass is punctured, or otherwise develops a small hole, you can fix that hole for less than ten bucks? Yes, you read right. Sticky Ass Glue and Sticky Jack Glue can be used to fill tiny cracks and holes in your boat. Granted, the glue may not dry to match the exact color, but for the price, you can’t beat this as a quick fix.

And of course, SAG and SJG are both 100% waterproof, so you won’t have to worry about the fill dissolving.

***We don’t recommend using SAG or SJG for holes or punctures bigger in diameter than a dime***

Questions on using our glue to plug a hole in your boat? Shoot us a note at glue@stickyassglue.com

Rubber Rehab

One of the most unique characteristics of summer is that it allows us to wear rubber shoes. We’re not talking about shoes with rubber soles. We’re talking about footwear made entirely or almost entirely from rubber. Like flip flops. Or, as have become the rage lately from kids aged 1-100; Crocs.

However, as fun as it is to chuck aside the leather for the summer, unfortunately rubber shoes seem more prone to ripping, breaking, or coming unglued (oh yeah, we went there!)

Lucky for you though, inside your tool chest (if it’s properly stocked, that is), you’ll find a quick fix for all of your rubber shoe repairs. Sticky Ass Glue and Sticky Jack Glue work amazingly well on repairing rubber. Plus, since they’re waterproof you can walk right back into the lake in your Crocs or flops, without weakening the bond.

So…keep having a great summer, all the while saving your pennies by rehabbing your rubber shoes.

Why The Amber Hue?

In a perfect world, all glue would dry clear. And that’s what we tell our readers, who have inquired about the slight amber hue that Sticky Ass Glue has once it has dried. Unfortunately, the nature of polyurethane glues is to turn a slight shade of yellowish brown once it dries.

This is caused by the chemical composition of polyurethane, and to date the technology hasn’t been invented where we can maintain the integrity of the glue (read: the strength) and produce a clear dry. The polyurethanes that are available currently with a clear dry, will actually turn yellow over time, or after exposure to UV light (as, in from the sun). So to reduce the appearance of dried SAG, remember first and foremost that a little bit goes a long way.

Secondly, remember that you can sand any excess glue right off. Or, you can paint right over SAG, if there’s just a tiny bit showing. Thirdly, remember that our glue expands less than other polyurethanes on the market, so the amount of excess glue showing will be minimal compared with other glues.

Finally, keep in mind that for smaller projects, there’s our incredible Sticky Jack Super Glue, which has been triple distilled, and will dry clear. Not to mention, Sticky Jack Super Glue boasts our signature stubbornly strong bonding qualities!

Hope that “clears” up any questions. If not, feel free to send us an email at glue@stickyassglue.com

Building Ambition

With the arrival of nice weather, the Glue Crew always gets a bit ambitious. Well, actually it seems more like our wives and kids get ambitious for us. Whether it’s deciding to finally repair the split 2’ x 4’ in the corner of the deck, or caving in and finally making good on the promise to build the kids a skateboard ramp; the nice weather prevents us from procrastinating any longer.

But, we’re also not content to tackle wooden projects with just a few lousy nails. Nails rust, and tend to split the wood around them (and splinters are so NOT fun!) So we always make sure to fortify any bond with Sticky Ass Glue. SAG can strengthen any bond between two pieces of wood, and can even be used to fill in splits in wood around nail or screws.

So, if you find yourself feeling like a go-getter, who is ready to tackle some outdoor wooden repairs (or just can’t get away with putting them off any longer) make sure that you pick up a tube of SAG at your local hardware store first.

Besides, you’ll be amazed at how many other projects you’ll find it useful for.

Landscaping Lessons!

There’s no time like the present to be getting your yard in order! We write to remind you while you’re plucking weeds, or planting seeds, should you come across cracked stone, brick or tile; you needn’t replace the broken pieces. Sticky Ass Glue or Sticky Jack Glue will make them good as new again, for a fraction of the cost of replacement.

The same goes for those Terra Cotta planters (which seem to break with astonishing regularity.) A dab of SAG of SJG (which are both waterproof) will fix those up in a jiffy. Moreover, any cracks in mosaic tile pots or fountains can be easily bonded within just hours.

So, before you head to the lawn or garden store for replacement landscaping accents, remember that one 4 oz bottle of SAG or SJG can save you a bundle, and help your lawn, patio, porch or deck look its best this summer.

For any questions on using SAG for landscaping repairs, drop us a line at glue@stickyassglue.com

It’s Official… Summer is Here!... Unofficially

With Memorial Day behind us, and baseball season in full swing; there’s no doubt that summer has arrived (except for on the calendar, of course). And there’s no doubt that a bit of sunshine, a trip to the ball park, the lake or the beach might be just what we all need to kick the economic doldrums of the last several months. Until of course you go to retrieve the kids’ buckets, pails, and shovels and find some of them broken.

But wait! Before you go spending money on new plastic toys, or even Styrofoam coolers, remember that a dab of Sticky Ass Glue will have these summer items back to perfect in no time. (While Sticky Jack Super Glue will also work on smaller cracks, it’s not waterproof, so stick with the original, SAG or Sticky Jack Glue for any items that may get wet.)

Wishing you endless days of fun in the sun,

The Glue Crew

Shake, Rattle and Roll

Here in Southern California, we’re riddled with (for the most part pesky, but occasionally, scary) earthquakes. Last week alone we’ve had two, with multiple aftershocks. While none of them have caused much damage lately, it made us all realize that in our earth quake emergency kit, it would be useful to keep a bottle of Sticky Ass Glue.

That way, should frames be knocked loose from the walls, or our favorite bowling trophy takes a fall off the wall shelf, we’ll know exactly where to find the perfect fix it tool. And we won’t even have to go out to the garage.
So, keep it in mind. Of course, you’ll probably find yourself grabbing for the earthquake kit a lot more often than you’ll feel a quake, as you’ll soon realize just how many items in your home could use a quick fix!

Styrofoam Secrets!

Have you ever used glue on Styrofoam only to find that it cavitates (eats away) the foam? If not, consider yourself lucky, as most glues will tend to do this. However, Sticky Ass Glue and Sticky Jack Glue aren’t most glues!

In fact, SAG and SJG work amazingly well on Styrofoam, (read: no eating away here!) making it a great addition to any crafter’s tool kit. (The fact that both are sandable and paintable doesn’t hurt either!) However, there’s another great use for SAG and SJG….

You know those model airplanes you see people flying around at the park? Well, most of them are made at least partly of Styrofoam. But, if you use the wrong glue, your model B-52, might just be a bust. So, the next time you buy your niece or nephew a model airplane for their birthday; make sure (in addition to batteries, of course) you throw in a bottle of Sticky Ass Glue. They’ll get a kick out of the name, and will be equipped to make that plane soar in no time.

Top Ten Reasons To Stop By Booth 34739 at NHS 2009!

The final countdown is on. In just about a week, we’ll be in Sin City at the National Hardware Show, and we hope to see you there. In fact, we want to see you so badly that we’ve come up with 10 compelling reasons to visit the SAG Booth (34739) at NHS 2009.

10. Have you ever seen a leather belt glued to a bowling ball? It’s quite a sight.

9. You can take your picture in front of our banner. People tend to like the big donkey banner (or maybe it’s the word Ass?) Either way, take as many photos as you’d like.

8. You have something you need glued. At every trade show we’ve attended, we’ve found multiple attendees needing a quick fix (broken glasses, cameras, shoes.) Stop on by and we’ll fix it right up for you.

7. You want to be on our mailing list, right? Stop by and have us scan your badge so we can keep you up to date on new products and projects.

6. At the risk of sounding like braggarts, we’re a pretty fun group. We promise lots of smiles, and probably a laugh or two.
5. We’ve got new products to show you. Sticky Jack Super Glue is our newest product, and we’d love to show you just how well it works!

4. It’s the patriotic thing to do. After all, we’re 100% American Made.

3. You’re already going to be in the Central Hall anyway, might as well mosey on over.

2. Did somebody say samples? Yes, we’ll have a limited supply there, so come to booth #34739 early to get yours!

1. We really, really, really want to meet you, and since we’re stuck at our booth all day, the only way we can do so, is if you stop by. Please?

See you in Vegas…
The Glue Crew.

Record Heat Can’t Break Our Bonds

In our hometown of Pasadena, we’ve been hit with a heat wave. We’re talking record breaking temperatures for this time of year-nearing 100˚ F! While it may not be so hot in your neck of the woods, we couldn’t think of a better time to remind you that all SAG International Products will hold up, even under extreme heat.

Sticky Ass Glue and Sticky Jack Glue (our polyurethane glues) will both sustain temperatures of up 300˚ without weakening the bond. Sticky Jack Super Glue can stand the heat too, up to 200˚ F. And, we’re not meteorologists or anything, but we’re pretty sure that it never reaches 200˚ degrees outside anywhere. So, despite any heat wave you have, or have coming; rest assured that for all outdoor projects, SAG International bonds won’t melt.

Got a question on an outdoor project requiring glue? Shoot us a line at glue@stickyassglue.com and we’ll get right back to you.

Stay cool out there….

Your Question: Can I Use SAG Products on Rubber?

We recently received a question from a reader who wrote to us, wanting to know if SAG International, LLC Products would work on rubber. The answer is a resounding “YES!” All SAG products can be used to repair rubber.

But don’t just take it from us, here’s what Kevin Shannon of Los Angeles recently had to say about his experience using Sticky Ass Glue on rubber.

“I used Sticky Ass Glue to repair the sole of my basketball shoe. (The first day I wore them someone stepped on the heel and tore the leather upper from the sole). I have been playing basketball for two hours a week, (and wearing them in between) for over a year, and finally had to replace them because the soles wore down, but not because the SAG bond failed.

I also used Sticky Ass Glue to repair the weather stripping on the sliding door for my minivan, it’s been 6 months and so far the kids have not been able to pull it free again! (The dealer had fixed it twice in the preceding 6 months).”

We love hearing feedback from Sticky Ass Glue users, so if you’ve found a great use for any of our products, please drop us a line at glue@stickyassglue.com and we’ll share your tips here on www.TheGlueChronicles.com

You Asked….What’s The Deal With Fabric?

We’ve had a lot of questions lately asking about using Sticky Ass Glue and Sticky Jack Glue on craft or reupholstery projects involving fabrics. The most frequent question is: Can I use your glue on fabrics or cloth?

Unfortunately, we can’t be everything to everybody. The nature of our polyurethane glues causes them to harden (but this is also what makes our bonds “stubbornly strong”). With materials as soft as fabrics, using a polyurethane will not be your best bet, as you’ll be able to feel the bond beneath the cloth.

So, there you have it, we’ve ponied up (or should it be muled up?) Sticky Ass Glue and Sticky Jack Glue are incredible for bonding rubber, glass, tile, Formica, ceramic, brick, stone, PVC, plastic, and dozens of other solid substrates. So use them to bond together the frame of your project, but when it comes to reupholstering the couch cushions, better use a different glue.

Spring is In the Air….Time For Chair Repairs

Spring is in the air, Easter is around the bend, and sunny days will arrive soon. If you’re like us, we’ll once again be dusting off the patio furniture, prepping for bbq’s with friends and getting ready to host an Easter feast with family.

That means your guests need places to sit. However, as we know from readers, friends, SAG fans and personal experience, chairs break. (More often than they probably should, in fact). Whether it’s a wooden leg that goes wobbly, or an arm rest on patio chairs that falls completely off, or the bottom frame of a dining table that snaps clean in two; a broken chair is neither attractive, nor safe.

But who has the money these days to purchase new furniture? We sure don’t. But, luckily for us, we happen to make a product that will fix all of these nuisances easily and cheaply.

From wood, to metal, to plastic, Sticky Ass Glue and Sticky Jack Glue will make any broken chair in your home good as new, almost instantly. Plus, since our glues are paintable, sandable, and waterproof, they’ll repair both indoor and outdoor chairs.

So, make sure you add “Chair Repair” to your list of Spring Cleaning before hosting guests. And that means don’t forget to pick up a bottle of Stubbornly Strong Sticky Ass Glue!

Countdown To The Vegas Hardware Show Has Begun!

Well, it’s official, the countdown to our second appearance at the 2009 National Hardware Show in Las Vegas has begun. In two months we’ll be mixing it up with retailers, distributors, reps, and colleagues in Sin City! This year ought to be even more exciting than last year for us, as we’ve got new products to show off!

Last year, we were newbies to the show, and only had our 4oz bottles of Sticky Ass Glue to brag about. This year, we’re coming with our 4 oz bottles of SAG, our 8 oz bottles of SAG, our 16 oz bottles of SAG, our 4 oz bottles of Sticky Jack Glue, and our new 10 gram tubes of Sticky Jack Super Glue.

It’s going to be a hoot, so if you’re a hardware, building, retailing, whatever, make sure to save the dates of May 5-7, 2009. Can’t wait to see you there!

Top 10 Reasons…

Welcome to our first ever Top 10 list. Yeah, so maybe we stole the idea from Letterman, but we’re betting he’s the not the first person in history to make a list; he might just be the most famous (until now, of course.) Drum roll….

TOP 10 REASONS TO KEEP A BOTTLE OF SAG HANDY

10. We’re in a recession. Who has money to hire folks to fix things that you can fix yourself?

9. SAG is made in the U.S.A. Gotta love the fact that we’re creating jobs here in the U.S. and not outsourcing overseas.

8. SAG is waterproof. With Spring on horizon, our glue holds just as strong outdoors in the rain as on indoor projects.

7. Speaking of indoor projects, did we mention how low in odor SAG is? Unlike other glues which can produce really strong (and even headache inducing) smells, SAG doesn’t.

6. SAG works on just about every substrate (material) available. Barring fabrics and paper, SAG will securely bond plastic, brick, tile, glass, and so on.

5. SAG is paintable and sandable. Excess glue can easily be sanded off or painted over without weakening the bond.

4. SAG sets up quickly. In less than an hour, the bond will have set.

3. SAG is easy to use. Apply. Stick Items Together. Call it a day.

2. SAG is easy to remove from your hands, should you get in on them during your repairing. Simply take a bit of soap and water, and it’ll come right off.

We’ve said it before, but, the best reason to keep a bottle of SAG handy is….

1. We’re stubbornly strong!

Did we leave anything out? If so, don’t hesitate to send us your ideas at glue@stickyassglue.com

MacPherson’s Distributing Sticky Jack Super Glue

Boy we gotta say, those fine folks at MacPherson’s sure do make our day. MacPherson’s (which is a national distributor of art supplies) has become the first distributor of Sticky Jack Super Glue! MacPherson’s (who incidentally were also the first distributor of Sticky Ass Glue) picked up our newest product recently, and reps are already hard at work getting Sticky Jack Super Glue into a retailer near you.

So, many thanks again to MacPherson’s for continuing to support SAG International, LLC; and many thanks to you all for your patience in waiting for Sticky Jack Super Glue to hit a retailer near you.

Till next time....feel free to email us at glue@stickyassglue.com

Does the Tax Credit Have You Thinking About Buying A Home?

With the news that first time home buyers are now up for a tax credit of up to $8,000or 10% of the home’s purchase price (whichever is less), the National Association of REALTORS® is predicting that hundreds of thousands of new home buyers will be looking to buy a new home.

Since we know that all 300,000 of these new buyers regularly read The Glue Chronicles, we simply wanted to remind you, that with a new home purchase, comes lots of little repair jobs. So make sure that you’ve got a bottle of Sticky Ass Glue and Sticky Jack Super Glue on hand, to quickly repair any broken tiles, counter tops, or items that may be damaged in the move.

The list of household repairs that can be fixed in a jiffy with SAG or Sticky Jack Super Glue is certainly equal to the tax credit dollars you’ll earn if you buy a home this year!

Got a question on how to use SAG or Sticky Jack Super Glue on a household repair?

We’ve Sped Up The Set Time of SAG!

Check it out! We’ve decreased the set time for Sticky Ass Glue! Yep, our most popular product, the original Sticky Ass Glue, now sets faster than ever. Just like Sticky Jack Glue, we’ve been able to decrease the set time of Sticky Ass Glue so that it sets in just 30-60 minutes!

That means that you can start your craft, repair or DIY project, cook dinner and by the time you’re back, the SAG bond will have set. (Of course, we do remind you that it takes a full 24 hours for Sticky Ass Glue to fully cure, but it will now set in under an hour).

So take your pick, both Sticky Ass Glue and Sticky Jack Glue now boast the title of being the “Swift Setting” polyurethane glue. We’ll just let you decide which name you prefer.

Sticky Ass Glue and Sticky Jack Glue: You won’t need a kick upside the head to know these swift setting, stubbornly strong, 100% waterproof, and 100% American Made adhesives are the best Polyurethane Glues under the stars.

Questions for using SAG or SJG? Drop us a line at glue@stickyassglue.com or call us at 877-845-8530.

You Asked….We’re Answering:

What Is With Our Name Change?

Ok, ok it’s time for us to pony up (or mule up as may be the case for us). Yes, we did officially change our name from Sticky Ass Glue, LLC to SAG International, LLC. But there’s no sneaky reason for our change. No, we didn’t hire outside investors to come in and they made us change our name. We didn’t conduct any focus group that revealed that people preferred “SAG” over “Sticky Ass Glue”.

We changed our name for one reason only. We may be a little company now, but we’ve got big dreams, and big plans! These plans include expanding our reach in the near future to include international clients (whom we’ve had a lot of interest from). So, we thought it prudent to add International to our name, and frankly Sticky Ass Glue International, LLC was a bit of a mouthful. So we condensed it, all the while keeping our eye on our expansion plans.

And there you have it. SAG International LLC (aka Sticky Ass Glue, LLC) will forever remain a product that is proudly made in the U.S.A, no matter how big our dreams, or how far our products reach!

As always feel free to drop us a line with any questions at glue@stickyassglue.com

Hello CHA Friends!

We just wanted to say THANK YOU for visiting our booth last week at the 2009 CHA Show!

Hopefully, you will be able to try your samples of Sticky Ass Glue or Sticky Jack Glue on one of your projects very soon. To that end, we’d welcome your feedback on our glues, and we’d love to know of any unique uses you found for SAG or SJG.

As we undoubtedly told you, our newest product, Sticky Jack Super Glue will be available in retailers in coming months, so keep your eyes peeled for the little donkey on the label that lets you know, that like our polyurethane glues, our Super Glue is also “stubbornly strong.”

Sticks and Stones and Skateboards May Break My Bones…

Hi SAG Friends and Happy New Year,

Ron here. Sorry to have gone silent for a while, but I have a good excuse! On Christmas Night, wouldn’t you know I slipped, tripped and fell over (no, not my son’s skateboard, but my own!), breaking my leg!!! Can’t blame the boy on that one!

While I tried valiantly to give my ER doctor a bottle of Sticky Ass Glue and tell him to stick my leg back together, he wasn’t going for it. Two days, one surgery, one steel plate, and seven screws later, I’m back! (Although I’m still not convinced that SAG wouldn’t have done the trick just as well. Sigh. At least if my crutches should break, I’ll be able to fix those on my own).

So I apologize for the lack of news lately, but since I’m pretty laid up for the next six weeks, I promise to get back to business with regular updates.

In the meantime, don’t forget, we’ll be making our second appearance at the CHA show in Anaheim January 25-28, so please be sure to swing by booth #5023 if you’re planning to attend.

Till next time…watch out for skateboards!!!

Ron
